This romantic gem features bungalows in form of lumbung or granaries, nestled in a dense grove of coconut and banana trees. Tastefully decorated bathrooms make you want to spend the morning under the shower. Tania and Lempot, your hosts, are always ready to take you around to discover the hills, waterfalls and rural culture of east Bali. The homestay is named after Lempot’s grandfather. A trader of all sorts, he acquired the land from a Chinese merchant, who bartered it for a load of opium.
Don’t fantasize about the content of your breakfast though, all you’re going to get is a very legal, yet wonderful choice of home-made pancakes, fried rice, toasts or fruit salad. Since she met Lempot and settled on this corner of beach, Tania embarked on a struggle to preserve the environment – an uphill battle for which she fights relentlessly by sending the hotel’s waste to recycling, teaching local children to keep the beach clean, and avoiding the use of plastic bottles and containers. |
