Ecotourism Training Workshops, Indonesia
December 2005 : Regional trainings on Ecotourism Marketing for Small and Medium Enterprises in Indonesia
In December 2005, The Bumi Kita Foundation and the Natural Guide team contributed to 4 regional training workshops organized by Bina Swadaya in North Sumatra, West Java, Nusa Tenggara (Lombok) and South Sulawesi (Tanah Toraja). Each workshop gathered around 30 participants from the local government, tourism authorities, NGOs and travel industry, including hotel owners and tour operators. The purpose of the workshops was to discuss tourism policies and marketing strategies to meet the international demand for sustainable ecotourism and responsible travel. Regional ecotourism forums were created at the end of each workshop. These activities were supported by the European Union Small Project Facilities. The workshop gathered around 30 participants from the national and regional government, tourism authorities, NGOs and travel industry. The purpose of the workshops was to discuss tourism policies and marketing strategies to meet the international demand for sustainable ecotourism and responsible travel. April 2004 : National training on Ecotourism Marketing for Small and Medium Enterprises in Indonesia In April 2004, we contributed to the first national training workshop on ecotourism marketing and policies, organized by Bina Swadaya in Jakarta. The workshop gathered around 40 participants from the national and regional government, tourism authorities, NGOs and travel industry. Representatives of the European travel industry were invited as speakers. The purpose of the workshops was to discuss policies and marketing strategies towards ecotourism development, and to create a network of exchanges between participants from several regions of Indonesia. These activities were supported by the European Union Small Project Facilities.
